Two-Face (Batman Forever) Cosplay

"What say we flip for it?"

Hello! If you've been keeping up with my posts, you'll know that the Batman Forever Two-Face has been my obsession throughout 2024. I've been working on it since 2023 to get it ready for my state's convention season. Previously, I posted a detailed analysis of the costume that really went in-depth on Tommy Lee Jones's Two-Face fit. You can find that here: https://christopherwaynehall.blogspot.com/2024/09/batman-forever-two-face-costume-analysis.html

I also posted my process for making this build here, if you're inclined: https://christopherwaynehall.blogspot.com/2024/10/building-my-batman-forever-two-face.html

Now HERE it is at last! My Batman Forever Two-Face cosplay. Because of the deadline to have it done in time for my cons, some details are not 1:1 accurate with the film. I am, obviously, aware of those differences. In time, I hope to modify my current suit to get it completely film-accurate, or as close to it as I can. In the meantime, though, I'm over the moon for this build. I've wanted this outfit since 1995. I used to pretend to be Two-Face, playing with my Kenner action figure and the coin that came included with it, when the movie first came out. Two-Face has been my favorite Batman Villain for as long as I can remember, and his aesthetic (and coin) are a major reason why. While Tommy Lee Jones is not, in fact, my favorite rendition (I'd have to give that distinction to the Animated Series), recreating his costume has given me a newfound appreciation for how much went into the making of Batman Forever, and my all ready soft spot for this version has become even...mushier. But enough about that. Here are the pictures from each occasion I've had to wear the cosplay so far!
Arkansas Comic Con! 9/8/24

We got to AR con last minute, so we didn't get to savor the experience. Still, we got some good pictures and learned a little about how the suit (and the mask) wears! It was a pretty hot day out and we sweated profusely. My partner, Ryan, was Val Kilmer's Batman. His suit was by Super Hero Concepts (here's their Insta: https://www.instagram.com/superheroconcepts/)

Here we are with Lisa Abell, mentioned in my last post, who cobbled my "evil" shoe!

On the Con floor:

This pagoda outside the Statehouse Convention Center has a Yin-Yang on the gate doors. A PERFECT back-drop for this particular Two-Face to pose in front of!

My mask began to peel off around the nose and upper lip. I had affixed it with Pros-Aide, but the sheer amount of sweat caused it to slough off, as you can see in this photo:

That was unfortunate. Thankfully, it was when we were on our way out (and turning my head allowed me to cheat for some photos!)

BATMAN DAY! 9/15/24

We threw a Batman Day celebration at our local library. The actual Batman Day for 2024 was on September 21st, but our town's convention was all ready scheduled for that day, so we celebrated early! Here are some photos from that day. I wrangled a co-worker into being our Riddler. (Funny enough, I had ordered the Riddler costume to have as a back up for this event just in case my suit wasn't ready in time!) The theme was centered around Batman Forever, as it's more "kid friendly" and colorful. We had a Riddler-themed scavenger hunt, a costume contest and prizes, in addition to Batman, Two-Face and Riddler being there. For prizes, we gave out an assortment of Batman DVDs (the Burton/Schumacher era 4-film collection; the complete Animated Series; Batman Beyond; and the DCAU 18-film collection), as well as the four McFarlane DC Multiverse Batman Forever build-a-figure wave figures. Here are photos from that event:

Prize winners!
We had a pretty good turn out! My face DID peel again, even using the twin-might of Pros-Aide AND Spirit Gum.

SPA CON! 9/21/24

Spa Con was, in my opinion, our best showing. I decided to trim the nose and upper lip from the mask and glue them down as individual elements. Then I glued the rest of the mask OVER the top of them. We used a mix of acrylic and liquid latex to paint the visible areas left by the gaps. The following photos are from that day!

On the drive over:

Myself and Delena, aka the Crimson Thistle, who sewed my suit!

We ran into another 90s Batman cosplayer!

These were when we were waiting around for the cosplay contest winner announcements.
I liked the lighting in the bathroom (don't judge me)

The following pics were all taken during the after-party. We were under some red black-lights, which the costume had a cool look under (though I wish we'd been under some proper neon to get a true Batman Forever look, haha!)

-I did not win the cosplay contest, unfortunately, haha.

But there you have it! Two-Face '95 is in the bag. Maybe one day I'll attempt some of his other outfits (the Nygmatech Tux would be the one, probably). We still have Halloween coming up, so we'll be giving these suits another go. Until then!
